Anaesthetic Practitioner - Band 5/6 role - Private Hospital - Hertfordshire Area - Full time

The Private Hospital has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our friendly and efficient theatre team, ensuring a high standard of individualised patient care and safety. This may include working as a Surgical First Assistant and/or Scrub Practitioner.
The Private Hospital is Hertfordshire's newest private hospital and features the very latest technology, ensuring that our operating theatres provide patients and employees with the best environment to keep them safe and free from infection. Our private hospital includes modern theatres, luxury en-suite bedrooms, specialist rehabilitation physiotherapy, and outpatient diagnostic facilities, including fast-track access to X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.

The Private Hospital is ideally located for candidates around the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire area.

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday with some Saturday shifts as required.

Salary: Equivalent to NHS AfC Band 5/6 dependent on skillset and experience

Qualifications:
• Registered General Nurse with NMC or
• Registered Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC

Experience:
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an anaesthetic, scrub, or recovery Theatre Practitioner.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and its application

Skills:
• Demonstrable knowledge and skills in a variety of specialties, including General, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology, Plastics, and Orthopaedics.
• Patient-focused, able to deliver a high level of customer service
• Sound written, numerical, and verbal communication skills
• Sound computer skills using MS Office Suite and PAS
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
• Enthusiasm for cross-functional working, such as day care

Anaesthetic Practitioner Main Responsibilities:
• Support the Theatre team in the care of patients prior to and during surgery
• Provide a comprehensive handover at change of shift to colleagues
• Undertake all safety checks to a high standard, documenting as per procedure
• Assess patient care requirements, implementing and evaluating outcomes
• Ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control
• Ensure that all documentation relating to patient care is within the boundaries of the national and hospital guidelines for good record keeping
• Ensure that all incidents, accidents, and near misses are appropriately recorded and reported. Participate in investigations and implement changes to practice
• Ensure that own practice and the practice of others is within an ethical and legal framework.
• Proactively participate in capturing revenue
• Understand the Clinical Governance process and actively participate in all processes.
• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
• Support with mentoring junior members of the team, assessing competencies, as well as supporting and identifying individual training needs.
• Support new business initiatives and assist with their implementation
• Provide clinical expertise
• Take the lead in your clinical area for assigned cases, organising activities, and ensuring maintenance of a safe environment
• Organise repairs and service contracts for technical equipment
• Ensure audits are undertaken and action plans put in place for improvement

Scrub:
• Prepare all the necessary instruments, equipment, and other materials as required
• Assist with minor surgical procedures within scope of practice
• Act as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the theatre and hospital

Recovery:
• Offer the patient care and support upon arrival in Recovery
• Undertake patient observations, monitoring their condition
• Provide appropriate care and treatment until the patient has recovered from the effects of the anaesthesia and/or surgery
• Assess the patient to ensure they can be discharged back to the Ward
