Theatre Practitioner - Scrub and Surgical First Assistant - Requirements:
• Registered with the NMC or HCPC essential.
• Strong clinical background as a Scrub Practitioner in all types of surgery, including orthopedics.
• Surgical First Assistant trained/qualified essential.
• Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, take accountability, and respond to urgent matters calmly and informed manner.
• Ability to present information accurately, clearly, and concisely.
Theatre Practitioner - Scrub and Surgical First Assistant Core Responsibilities:
• Assist the Theatre Manager and Deputy Theatre Manager in delivering and managing patient care within the theatre.
• Provide skilled assistance to surgeons as a Surgical First Assistant.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, offering high-quality pre and post-operative patient-centered care and customer service.
• Provide guidance, support, and clinical scrub expertise to the Theatre team, working closely with the senior team for effective use of resources.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in a specialist area, acting as a resource to enhance client service.
• Ensure daily preparation of the theatre in line with quality standards.
• Comply with internal procedures to maintain/serviced equipment, reporting defects to the Theatre Manager.
• Accurately maintain required documentation.
• Ensure appropriate medicines administration and management in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores, and implants, liaising with the Theatre Manager and Procurement.
• Maintain effective communication across the Hospital, including with patients, team members, and Consultants.
