About the Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Children's Home Manager to support the Registered Manager in leading a residential children's home and delivering outstanding care for children and young people.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining management responsibilities with direct support for young people. You'll play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic home environment while supporting the development of the staff team and ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Quality Standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
- Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to the staff team.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and child-centred environment.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Ensure safeguarding practices are embedded throughout the service.
- Support staff through supervision, mentoring, and development.
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and placement planning.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and families.
- Participate in the on-call rota, sleep-ins, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
About You We're looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people and who can lead by example.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience working within a residential children's home.
- Experience leading shifts or supporting a staff team.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to remain calm, resilient, and child-focused under pressure.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to care.
