Registered Manager– New Children's Home

Location: Colchester, Essex
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Service: New Children's Home – Learning Disabilities

The Opportunity We are recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand-new children's home in Colchester, supporting children and young people with learning disabilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing children's residential provider and take ownership of a new service from the outset.
You will have the opportunity to help shape the home, develop the staff team and establish a positive, nurturing environment where children can achieve the best possible outcomes.
Importantly, you will have strong support from an experienced senior management team, giving you the backing needed to successfully develop and manage the service.

The Role As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the new children's home
• Leading and developing a committed staff team
• Creating a safe, nurturing and positive environment for children with learning disabilities
• Ensuring high standards of safeguarding, care planning and record keeping
• Maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes Regulations
• Supporting the development of policies, procedures and systems within the new home
• Recruiting, training, supervising and developing staff
• Working closely with social workers, families, local authorities and other professionals
• Managing the home's resources, staffing and day-to-day performance

Preparing the service for Ofsted inspection and maintaining high standards once operational

About You
We are looking for an experienced Children's Home Manager / Registered Manager with:

• Experience managing or working within a children's residential setting
• Experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
• Proven leadership and staff management experience
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness/ability to work towards this where appropriate
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, families and professionals

Experience of opening or developing a new children's home would be advantageous, although strong candidates from an established children's residential management background will also be considered.
