We have partnered with a brilliant Children's Service who are on the lookout for an experienced, driven and genuinely child focused Deputy Childrens' Home Manager to support children's residential home. Deputy Children Manager Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the overall management of the home
  • Leading, motivating and developing the staff team
  • Promoting consistently high standards of care and professional practice
  • Leading shifts and providing guidance and support to staff
  • Supporting staff supervision, development and performance
  • Overseeing and reviewing care plans, risk assessments and children’s records
  • Monitoring incidents and identifying patterns, themes and opportunities for learning
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are understood and consistently followed
  • Supporting effective admissions, transitions and placement planning
  • Contributing to audits, monitoring and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining high standards of recording and regulatory compliance
  • Working collaboratively with families, social workers and external professionals
  • Promoting children’s wishes, feelings and participation in decisions about their care
  • Supporting positive relationships and a therapeutic approach across the home
  • Stepping into the Registered Manager role in their absence

Deputy Children Manager Essential Requirements 
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Aged 21 or over
  • Right to work in the UK – They are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position
  • Recognised Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England), or an equivalent recognised residential childcare qualification
  • Minimum two years’ experience working within a children’s residential home
  • Experience leading shifts and supporting or supervising staff within children’s residential care
  • Good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Ability to work flexibly across the home’s rota, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards this qualification
