We are recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a specialist residential family service in Plymouth. This is an opportunity to take on a rewarding leadership position where your experience, judgement and commitment to safeguarding will directly contribute to better outcomes for children and their families.
You will oversee the effective day-to-day management of the service, creating a safe, structured and supportive environment for mothers and their children. You will also play a key role in ensuring the service operates in line with Ofsted requirements and relevant legislation.
Support will be provided throughout the Ofsted registration and interview process.
About the Service
The service provides residential support to women who may be experiencing a wide range of challenges. Families can receive structured support and parenting assessments, with a strong focus on child safety, parenting capacity, recovery and developing safe and positive family relationships.
The service also offers a pregnancy stabilisation pathway, providing women with an opportunity to access early support, reduce risks and begin building greater stability in a safe and supportive environment.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will provide strong leadership across the service and ensure that families receive high-quality, individualised support.
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and well-managed environment, ensuring appropriate safeguarding arrangements are in place and that the service consistently meets regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the residential service, ensuring it is safe, effective and well organised.
- Ensure the service meets Ofsted regulatory requirements and relevant legislation, maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
- Work confidently with regulatory bodies and other external professionals.
- Develop positive, professional relationships with women, their children and the wider network of professionals involved in their care.
- Ensure individual care and support plans are developed and implemented effectively, with dignity, privacy and the needs of each family at their centre.
- Maintain a strong understanding of safeguarding and respond appropriately to concerns or identified risks.
- Promote and embed a trauma-responsive approach across the staff team.
- Support the service to maintain strong occupancy levels.
- Provide effective leadership, communication and direction to the wider team.
- Manage complex situations and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
You will need to have:
- A minimum of 2 years' residential childcare experience gained within the last 5 years.
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- An NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or be working towards it / willing to commence and work towards the qualification within 6 months of appointment.
- Alternatively, relevant registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Social Work England.
- A sound understanding of Ofsted requirements and current legislation.
- The ability to communicate effectively with commissioners, funders, families using the service and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A professional, dependable and accountable approach.
