Deputy Manager – Residential Care An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a well-established provider supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and complex care needs.
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the service delivers outstanding, person-centred care while supporting and developing a dedicated staff team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Team Leader or Senior Support Worker looking to progress into management, or an existing Deputy Manager seeking a new challenge.
The Role As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operation of the service, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained.
This is a varied leadership role, combining operational management with hands-on support. Your working week will include a balance of direct support and dedicated management time, allowing you to lead by example while driving quality and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the service.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
- Lead shifts and ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care is delivered.
- Supervise, mentor, and support Team Leaders and Support Workers.
- Assist with staff recruitment, inductions, supervisions, appraisals, and ongoing development.
- Oversee rotas, staffing levels, and shift planning.
- Support care planning, risk assessments, medication management, and quality assurance.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints are managed appropriately.
- Complete audits relating to care quality, medication, health and safety, and compliance.
- Build positive relationships with families, healthcare professionals, commissioners, and external agencies.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a positive culture throughout the service.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within adult social care in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, or complex care needs.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, care planning, risk management, and person-centred care.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader, or Senior Support Worker.
- Experience with audits, compliance, and quality assurance.
- Level 3 or Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience managing staff performance, supervisions, and training.
