Lead, Inspire and Make a Difference

Are you an experienced children's residential care professional looking for the opportunity to lead a well-established children's home and make a genuine difference to young people's lives?

An established children's care provider is seeking an ambitious and compassionate Registered Manager to take overall responsibility for a 3-bed children's residential home in Plymouth.

The home was rated Good at its most recent Ofsted inspection, providing an excellent foundation for an experienced manager to build upon and continue developing the service.

The home supports children and young people with learning disabilities and additional complex needs, creating a safe, nurturing environment where young people are supported to develop their independence, confidence and overall wellbeing.

About the Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of the home. You will provide strong leadership, maintain high standards of care and ensure the environment remains safe, positive and child-centred.

You will lead and develop a dedicated team of residential childcare professionals, ensuring they have the guidance and support required to provide consistently high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take overall responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the 3-bed children's home.
  • Ensure children and young people receive high-quality, individualised and person-centred care.
  • Promote positive outcomes, independence, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive home environment.
  • Ensure the home operates in accordance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Lead, support and develop a dedicated team of residential childcare professionals.
  • Ensure care plans, risk assessments and relevant records are accurate, current and effectively implemented.
  • Build strong working relationships with parents, families, social workers, healthcare professionals and education providers.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and ensure the welfare of children remains central to decision-making.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the home.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will combine strong leadership and management skills with a genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities, autism, communication needs and behaviours of concern would be particularly advantageous.

The role would suit an experienced Registered Manager, or an accomplished Deputy Manager who is ready to take the next step into full Registered Manager responsibility.

Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working within a children's residential care setting.
  • Management experience, ideally at Deputy Manager or Registered Manager level.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs.
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and person-centred care.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or currently working towards the qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established provider and take the lead of a 3-bed children's home that has achieved a Good Ofsted rating.

For an experienced children's residential professional, the role offers the opportunity to take genuine ownership of a service, lead and develop a team, and have a meaningful impact on the lives of the young people in your care.
