Supervising Social Worker

Location: West Midlands – Wolverhampton / Walsall preferred
Salary: Up to £41,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week – flexible working
Employment Type: Permanent

Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a role where you can build meaningful, long-term relationships with foster carers and make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people?
We are currently recruiting for a Supervising Social Worker to join an established and highly regarded independent fostering provider, supporting foster families across the West Midlands, Staffordshire and through to Worcester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Social Worker who is passionate about children's services and wants the flexibility to manage their own working week.

The Role As a Supervising Social Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality supervision, guidance and support to foster carers throughout their fostering journey.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a caseload of foster carers and providing regular supervision and support.
  • Building strong, professional relationships with foster carers, children and young people.
  • Visiting foster families and ensuring placements continue to meet the needs of the child.
  • Supporting foster carers through the fostering process, from assessment through to approval and ongoing support.
  • Contributing to Form F assessments and preparation for fostering panels.
  • Supporting the matching of children and young people with appropriate foster families.
  • Monitoring placement progress and identifying any areas where additional support may be required.
  • Working closely with foster carers, children, birth families and other professionals.
  • Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, placement difficulties and more complex situations.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring work is completed in line with fostering regulations, policies and best practice.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider fostering team to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
What We're Looking For We are looking for a qualified Social Worker who is registered with Social Work England and has experience working with children, young people and families.
Fostering experience is highly desirable but is not essential.

You should have:
  • A recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with children, young people and families.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and children's social care legislation.
  • Strong assessment, report-writing and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, due to the geographical area covered.
Why Consider This Role?
  • Up to £41,000 salary, depending on relevant experience.
  • 40-hour working week with genuine flexibility around how you organise your time.
  • Home/field-based working, allowing you to plan your own working week.
  • No rigid set rota – you will have the autonomy to organise your working schedule around the needs of your caseload.
  • Supportive and experienced management team.
  • Opportunities for professional development and progression.
  • The opportunity to develop specialist experience within fostering.
  • Weekend on-call responsibilities shared across the team on a pro-rata basis.
  • A rewarding opportunity to directly influence the lives of children and support foster families to succeed.
Location The West Midlands team covers a large geographical area from Stafford through to Worcester.
The organisation would ideally like someone based around Wolverhampton, Walsall or the surrounding areas, although this is not essential and candidates from elsewhere within a reasonable travelling distance will be considered.

If you're an experienced Children's Social Worker looking for a move into fostering, or an established Supervising Social Worker looking for a flexible and rewarding opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
