Role Overview
  • Location: 2-bed children's residential home in Bury, Greater Manchester
  • Current Ofsted Rating: Requires Improvement
  • Salary: Up to £65,000 , depending on experience and proven success
  • On-call: Telephone on-call is included within salary. If attendance at the home is required, this will be paid at your normal hourly rate.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing by one additional day for each completed year of service.

Key Responsibilities

As Registered Manager, you will:

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of the home.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop your own staff team, including appointing senior leadership within the home.
  • Ensure safeguarding remains at the centre of all decision-making and practice.
  • Maintain compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
  • Oversee care planning, risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 processes and ensure the home is fully prepared for Ofsted inspections.
  • Build strong partnerships with local authorities, education providers, healthcare professionals and other external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for young people.

About You

To be successful, you'll have:

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or the willingness to complete it within two years (fully funded by us).
  • A minimum of two years' relevant residential childcare experience within the last five years, including at least one year supervising staff, in line with Ofsted fit person requirements.
  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within an Ofsted-regulated children's home.
  • A proven ability to impact inspection outcomes would be advantageous, although ambitious Deputy Managers ready to progress into a Registered Manager role will also be considered.
  • Strong leadership skills, resilience, integrity, and a child-centred approach with safeguarding at the heart of everything you do.
