We are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a children’s residential home in Derby. This role will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home delivers high-quality care and positive outcomes for children and young people, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and safeguarding frameworks.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior practitioner looking to step into or progress within management, with access to funded leadership training and clear career progression.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will:
  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the children’s home
  • Lead, supervise, and support the staff team to deliver high-quality care
  • Ensure safeguarding practices and procedures are consistently followed
  • Oversee care planning, placement plans, and behaviour management strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured home environment
  • Support staff development through supervision, guidance, and training
  • Assist with rota management, recruitment, and staffing levels
  • Support Ofsted inspections and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor budgets and financial records relating to the home and young people’s funds
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager when required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children within the past 5 years
  • Experience working within children’s residential care settings
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and regulatory frameworks
  • Supervisory or leadership experience (desirable)
  • Ability to lead staff teams and promote positive outcomes for young people
  • A Full UK Driving Licence
  • Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce (required)
  • Willingness to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children and Young People’s Services
