We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead a residential children’s home in Chelmsford, supporting children with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring outstanding care, strong compliance, and a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Children’s Home Manager, and their past or current Ofsted inspection reports will be reviewed via the Ofsted portal as part of the recruitment process.
The Role As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of the home, including:
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing individual care plans tailored to each child
  • Leading, supervising, and supporting staff to deliver consistently high standards of care
  • Ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards
  • Managing daily operations including staffing, rotas, and resource allocation
  • Monitoring children’s progress and wellbeing, adjusting care plans where necessary
  • Working closely with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Promoting a positive, professional culture focused on safeguarding, development, and best practice
  • Supporting staff development through training, supervision, and leadership
About You You will be:
  • An experienced Registered Children’s Home Manager (minimum 2 years in role)
  • NVQ Level 5 qualified in Children and Young People’s Residential Workforce (essential)
  • Confident in leading inspections and maintaining strong Ofsted outcomes
  • A compassionate, child-focused leader with strong organisational skills
  • Highly knowledgeable in safeguarding, care planning, and regulatory compliance
  • An excellent communicator, able to engage with staff, children, families, and professionals
  • Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards
