We are recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Care Practitioner to join a 2-bed children’s residential home in Derby. This role is ideal for a strong senior practitioner with leadership experience who is passionate about supporting young people in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
The Role As Senior Residential Care Practitioner, you will:
  • Work directly with young people to provide high-quality, child-centred care
  • Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home
  • Supervise, support, and guide staff members on shift
  • Promote safeguarding, structure, and positive outcomes for young people
  • Transport young people to appointments, education, family contact, and social activities
  • Contribute to care planning, risk management, and daily records
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure continuity of care
Hours & Shift Pattern
  • 56.5 hours per week, inclusive of sleep-ins
  • Shifts: 08:00 – 23:00, sleep-in, plus 08:00 – 08:30 handover the following day
  • 3-week rolling rota, working alongside a co-worker
  • Average 10 shifts per month, equating to 244.5 hours per month
About You We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience in children’s residential care or youth work
  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience leading or managing a team
  • Holds a relevant qualification in Children’s Residential Care
  • Holds a full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Is confident, resilient, and committed to supporting young people
  • Can work effectively within a structured rota system
