Main Duties of a Registered Manager
- Service Management: Oversee and develop quality therapeutic services for young people in the Home.
- Compliance: Ensure the Home exceeds standards under the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and other relevant legislation.
- Relationship-Centered Approach: Foster empathetic, engaging partnerships with young people, families, and professionals.
- Leadership: Provide effective, empathetic, and dynamic leadership.
- Team Development: Promote teamwork, address vicarious trauma, and support staff well-being.
- Reflective Practice: Encourage team reflection and uphold therapeutic practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, forward-thinking records aligned with the Home’s therapeutic purpose.
- Staff Coordination: Manage rotas balancing children’s needs and staff work-life balance, including emergency on-call duties.
- Supervision: Provide meaningful supervision and support to integrate therapeutic approaches.
- Training & Induction: Ensure quality staff inductions and implement robust therapeutic training programs.
- Recruitment & HR: Participate in hiring, disciplinary actions, and promoting wellness, ensuring staff align with therapeutic values.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety and medication management.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and ensure proper financial record-keeping.
- Policy Implementation: Uphold company policies that are attachment-based and trauma-informed.
Therapeutic Children's Home Registered Manager Essentials
- MUST have experience in Residential Children’s Social Care with a minimum of two years’ experience, ideally as a deputy or senior member of staff.
- An understanding of Trauma Informed Care and therapeutic background.
- A working knowledge of PACE and effective understanding of what a therapeutic placement looks like for children is advantageous or a willingness to learn.
- Strong leadership and effective communication skills with a very nurturing side and strong interpersonal skills.
- Hold a Level 3 NVQ diploma in Residential Childcare/Health and Social Care Children’s Workforce (Or equivalent) OR have a NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare or equivalent or be willing to work towards this qualification within two years of working at Park Blue Homes.
- MUST have at least one years’ experience in a management and supervisory role.
- Be able and willing to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview.
- UK Driving License
- Confidence and Understanding of The Children’s Home Regulations and all legislation associated with the running of a registered Children’s Home.
- A clear DBS and positive references from all companies where you have worked with children or vulnerable adults.
