About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day running of a children’s residential home in South Yorkshire, providing care and support to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, or other complex needs.
As Deputy Manager, you will work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations, supports children in achieving positive outcomes, and promotes a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

As Deputy Manager, you will work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted regulations, supports children in achieving positive outcomes, and promotes a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality residential childcare in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
- Lead, supervise, and support staff to provide consistent and effective care to children and young people.
- Take on responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Develop care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans tailored to each child’s needs.
- Promote safeguarding and ensure all incidents and concerns are reported and addressed appropriately.
- Contribute to staff recruitment, induction, training, and appraisal processes.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies (social workers, CAMHS, schools) to ensure coordinated support.
- Participate in the on-call rota and support with emergency or crisis situations as required.
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – and willingness to work towards Level 5.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting.
- Supervisory or senior support experience in a children’s home.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and child development.
- Ability to lead a team, manage shifts, and support in-house training and development.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
- Experience working with children with EBD,
- First Aid, MAPA/Team Teach or similar behaviour management training.
