We are seeking an exceptional Registered Manager to lead a brand-new 6-bed children’s residential home in Exeter, supporting children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a new service from the ground up, shape the culture, and build a high-performing team that delivers outstanding outcomes for young people.
The Role
  • Lead the registration, setup, and opening of a new 6-bed LD/EBD children’s home.
  • Ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Recruit, train and develop a skilled staff team, embedding a child-centred and therapeutic culture.
  • Oversee care planning, safeguarding, risk management, and behaviour support strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, external professionals, and families.
  • Drive a high-quality, nurturing environment that promotes young people’s independence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Prepare the home for inspection, ensuring readiness for a strong first Ofsted rating.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Manager or strong Deputy ready to step up.
  • Proven background working with LD and/or EBD children in residential settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, team-building and service development skills.
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management (or working towards).
  • Passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable young people.
