About the role:
We are working with a fantastic Children’s Home that are looking for a Regional Manager / Responsible Individual. They will be responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and continuous development of their portfolio of Ofsted-regulated residential children’s homes. This role ensures services are safe, nurturing, trauma-informed, and compliant with statutory regulations. The post-holder will drive excellence in care, support robust safeguarding practices, ensure regulatory compliance, financial sustainability and lead the homes in delivering consistently high outcomes for children and young people.

Regional Manager/ RI Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding & Child Protection
- Ensure safeguarding is central to all practice, with robust policies, training, and culture.
- Work with DSL, local authorities, and safeguarding partners to address concerns swiftly.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Regularly review and update risk assessments.
- Monitor compliance, ensure staff training, and act on incidents.
- Ensure compliance with legislation (Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards).
- Balance profitability with quality of care.
- Protect and promote the organisation’s reputation.
- Operate with professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Regional Manager/RI Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership
- Provide effective leadership as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with organisational goals.
- Promote a collaborative, values-driven, trauma-informed culture.
- Champion safeguarding, emotional resilience, and positive outcomes.
- Enhance the organisation’s reputation within the sector.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted and relevant regulations.
- Lead Ofsted inspection preparation and responses.
- Oversee internal audits and continuous improvement.
- Manage complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns effectively.
- Achieve financial targets (profitability, ROI, cash flow).
- Drive revenue growth and cost control.
- Support underperforming homes to meet targets.
- Lead business risk management and forecasting.
- Build strong relationships with commissioners and key stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation at industry events.
- Monitor market trends and explore business opportunities.
- Develop a proactive fee strategy ensuring sustainability and value.
- Lead and develop Registered Managers and care teams.
- Partner with HR to make the organisation an employer of choice.
- Champion recruitment, onboarding, retention, and development.
- Embed consistent supervision and appraisal processes.
- Contribute to service expansion and new home openings.
- Develop innovative care models and practices.
- Identify growth opportunities and prepare business cases.
- Carry out reasonable additional duties as needed.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Regional Manager/RI Requirements
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Senior leadership experience in Ofsted-regulated children’s residential care.
- Formal sector-related qualification (Level 5/7 desirable) or willingness to work towards.
- Strong knowledge of regulations, standards, and safeguarding.
- Proven record of driving financial performance.
- Confident decision-making under pressure.
- Experience leading new business and development projects.
