Registered Manager – 3-Bed EBD Children’s Home (B24, Birmingham) Salary: £55,000 per annum
Setting: 3-bedded home | EBD/SEMH | Established service (running since 2016) | Full staff team in place
Role purpose This is an opportunity to lead a well-established 3-bed EBD children’s home in B24 that has been operating successfully since 2016, with a full staff team already in place. As Registered Manager, you’ll provide strong operational leadership, embed trauma-informed practice, and ensure the home remains fully compliant with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations—driving excellent outcomes for children and young people.

As Registered Manager, you’ll provide strong operational leadership, embed trauma-informed practice, and ensure the home remains fully compliant with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations—driving excellent outcomes for children and young people.
Key responsibilities
- Operational leadership: Full accountability for day-to-day running of the home, rota management, staffing levels, and safe, consistent care.
- Ofsted compliance: Maintain readiness for inspection at all times; drive continuous improvement and strong outcomes.
- Safeguarding: Act as DSL for the home, ensuring robust safeguarding practice, risk management, and incident response.
- Care planning & outcomes: Oversee high-quality placement planning, matching, admissions, and transition processes; ensure children have clear goals and progress plans.
- Team leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the staff team; embed strong practice, supervision, appraisals, and performance management.
- Quality & governance: Ensure care records, policies, audits, Regulation 44/45 actions, and internal QA processes are completed and evidenced.
- Multi-agency working: Build strong relationships with social workers, education, CAMHS, YOT, and other professionals; manage professional challenge when needed.
- Culture & standards: Maintain a stable, therapeutic environment with clear boundaries, routines, and a child-centred ethos.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – achieved or working towards (as required by the provider).
- Recent management experience in a children’s residential setting (EBD/SEMH highly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding, and Ofsted frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead a team, manage risk, and improve outcomes for children with behaviours that challenge.
- Confident with staff supervision, rotas, recruitment, audits, and report writing.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred/if required).
- Experience improving Ofsted outcomes / delivering a “Good” or “Outstanding” standard.
- Therapeutic/trauma-informed practice experience (e.g., PACE, Team Teach/PMVA, CPI).
- Strong local authority relationship management and referrals/occupancy experience.
