Operations Manager
Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
Salary: Up To £55,000 DOE performance bonus
A new opportunity has arisen to lead a brand-new, small therapeutic children’s home in Bedford, supporting up to 4 children with EBD needs. This role offers the chance to shape a service from the ground up, embed strong values, and create a safe, stable and nurturing home for children who need it most.
This position is open to experienced Registered Managers as well as strong Deputy Managers who are ready to step up into their first Registered Manager role.
The Role As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the full operational leadership of the home, including:
  • Day-to-day management of the children’s home
  • Recruiting, developing and leading a dedicated staff team
  • Creating a therapeutic, structured and child-centred environment
  • Ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
  • Managing referrals, safeguarding, placement planning and multi-agency working
  • Leading the Ofsted registration process and inspection readiness
  • Driving continuous improvement and embedding a positive culture
You will have real autonomy to shape systems, routines and values, with strong support from an experienced Responsible Individual.

About You We are looking for someone who:
  • Has Registered Manager experience or is an experienced Deputy Manager ready to step up
  • Has strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted frameworks
  • Works in a trauma-informed, child-centred way
  • Can lead, motivate and develop teams with professionalism and empathy
  • Communicates confidently with staff, professionals and external partners
  • Holds (or is working towards) a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
Experience of opening a new home is desirable but not essential.
