The Registered Manager will be responsible for the safe and effective management of their supported accommodation services for young people. The role is focused on creating a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes independence, wellbeing, and preparation for adulthood.

📌 Registered Manager – Key Responsibilities
🔹 Leadership & Management
- Act as Ofsted Registered Manager, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Lead services in alignment with the Statement of Purpose, vision, and values.
- Provide strong leadership, direction, and staff support.
- Maintain, embed, and review policies and procedures.
- Safely recruit staff following safer recruitment standards.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels for safe, consistent support.
- Develop staff through induction, supervision, appraisal, and ongoing training.
- Address performance issues through feedback, coaching, and capability processes.
- Ensure effective communication across the team (meetings, handovers, feedback).
- Manage service budgets responsibly and efficiently.
- Create and implement workforce planning and succession strategies.
- Maintain a business continuity plan.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ensure service maintains ‘Good’ or above ratings with Ofsted/CQC.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Maintain safeguarding procedures and ensure regular staff training.
- Oversee individual risk assessments and ensure timely updates.
- Complete environmental and health & safety risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records (incidents, safeguarding, staff and young person files).
- Ensure safer recruitment checks (references, qualifications, DBS).
- Monitor staff conduct and uphold professional boundaries.
- Ensure staff are fit, competent, and supported to fulfil their duties.
- Demonstrate transparency with Ofsted, local authorities, and partners.
- Report notifiable incidents within statutory timeframes.
- Promote a culture of safety, openness, and shared safeguarding responsibility.
- Lead development and review of individual support and pathway plans.
- Co-produce support plans with young people and social workers.
- Facilitate young people’s participation in decisions and service development.
- Support engagement in education, training, and employment.
- Promote independence through life-skills development.
- Plan and support transitions to independent living.
- Build positive partnerships with external agencies.
- Maintain an inclusive environment that values diversity and identity.
- Ensure trauma-informed practice is embedded.
- Monitor progress and use outcome data for continuous improvement.
- Ensure the service is consistently ready for Ofsted inspection.
- Conduct internal monitoring and audits (safeguarding, H&S, staffing).
- Gather and analyse feedback from young people, staff, and stakeholders.
- Produce six-monthly quality of care reports.
- Develop and update a Service Development/Improvement Plan.
- Respond effectively to Ofsted recommendations or compliance actions.
- Oversee independent visits (Reg. 44/23 style) and address actions.
- Analyse data trends for continuous improvement.
- Support staff understanding of inspection requirements.
- Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and reflection.
📌 Person Specification
Essential
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification (or working towards).
- Significant experience with vulnerable young people.
- Strong knowledge of Supported Accommodation Regulations & Ofsted framework.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Excellent safeguarding and risk management ability.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to independence, equality, and positive outcomes for young people.
- Experience as a Registered Manager (children’s homes or supported accommodation).
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and adolescent development.
- Additional relevant qualifications (social care, youth work, housing).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Valid UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to travel as required.
