Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential (Boys EBD) | Swanley
£41,600 per annum | 6-bed home | Ages 11–16 
We’re recruiting a Deputy Manager for a well-run 6-bed boys’ EBD home in Swanley, supporting young people aged 11–16. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an experienced Senior/Team Leader ready to step up, or an established Deputy looking for a stable home, clear standards, and a supportive management structure.
The Role As Deputy Manager, you’ll support the Registered Manager to deliver safe, consistent, child-centred care and strong outcomes. You’ll lead by example on shift, mentor staff, and help drive quality, safeguarding, and behaviour support across the home.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager and support day-to-day operations
  • Lead shifts, support staff practice, and maintain a calm, consistent culture
  • Implement care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
  • Support safeguarding, incident management, and reflective debriefs
  • Contribute to staff supervision, induction, training and performance management
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and home policies
  • Work closely with professionals (social workers, education, CAMHS, etc.) to promote stability and progress
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in children’s residential care (EBD/SEMH/trauma-informed settings)
  • Previous leadership experience as Senior, Team Leader, or Deputy
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and confidence managing challenging situations
  • Ability to coach staff and set high standards with warmth and consistency
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) essential
    (Level 5 Leadership & Management – started or willing to complete – preferred)
