About the Role
We are excited to be working with a fantastic and well Established Children’s Home who is looking to bring on an experienced Deputy Manager to help lead a stable, supportive home for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a proven track record in residential childcare who’s ready to step into a key leadership role.

Deputy Children’s Home Manager Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply comprehensive understanding of policies and procedures to all aspects of employment and working practice.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of relevant legislation (Children’s Home Regulations 2015, Quality Standards 2015) and how these are reflected in daily working practice.
  • Help develop the staff team’s knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices and processes, taking the lead and co-ordinating as required.
  • Contribute to meeting the organisation’s Key Performance Indicators.
  • Communicate effectively with staff teams regarding regulatory requirements to support delivery of high-quality care.
  • Take a lead in the development and implementation of the young person’s Care Plan across integrated services; communicate needs, goals, and objectives to the staff team.
  • Provide co-ordination and leadership to the team to meet all the basic physical needs of young people on a daily basis.
  • Keep up-to-date and accurate records for young people in line with home systems; provide direction, actively monitor quality, and give feedback to staff teams.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of Therapeutic Parenting models; implement daily in care of young people and support staff teams’ learning.
  • Act with vigilance when supervising young people in line with risk assessments; monitor and record significant behaviours, provide feedback to individuals and home manager.
  • Recognise signs of distress or abuse; ensure monitoring and protection of young people, act as role model, and provide feedback to staff and home manager.
  • Co-ordinate and lead in maintaining all relevant records (fire safety, health & safety, etc.); monitor, direct, and provide feedback to colleagues.
  • Provide co-ordination and leadership to ensure all domestic duties in the home are carried out to the highest possible standard; role model this and challenge poor practice.
  • Contribute actively to a therapeutic homely environment by planning, organising, and delegating to others.
  • Set high standards in homemaking and care for the fabric, equipment, and grounds of the home and wider organisation; role model and challenge poor practice.
  • Be proactive and use initiative to ensure working hours are used effectively; motivate, direct, and provide feedback to staff.
  • Promote equality and diversity (race, culture, language, religion) to ensure every young person is treated fairly and with dignity; act as role model and provide feedback.
  • Act with initiative, accountability, and responsibility to assist with functioning of the team; provide leadership, direction, and guidance on shift.
  • Role model a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Conduct supervision meetings as directed by the Home Manager.
  • Develop skills, knowledge, and experience in accordance with personal development plan agreed with line manager.
 
Deputy Children’s Home Manager Regulatory and Administrative
  • Attend internal and external professionals’ meetings as required.
  • Adhere to the whistle-blowing policy to ensure poor practice, negligence, and dishonesty are raised appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Equality and Diversity Act.
  • Be accountable for home’s petty cash; ensure financial systems and processes are followed correctly; monitor and provide feedback.
  • Be accountable for all records, systems, and operating procedures of the home as set by the company; provide feedback as required.
  • Ensure regulatory training is completed and refreshed.
 
Deputy Children’s Home Manager’s Salary & Benefits Package
  • Base Salary: £35,200 per year
  • Performance Bonus: Up to £4,800 per year
  • Total Package Potential: Up to £40,000 per annum
